Technical Service Providers (TSP)
The USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) provides landowners
with technical assistance and aid in implementing conservation practices.
However, NRCS does not have enough personnel to implement these programs.
Congress allows NCRS to certify "third-party technical services providers"
to help fill the gap.
Certified Foresters are eligible to apply for work with the NRCS as a Technical
Service Provider (TSP). If you are interested in becoming a TSP in the NRCS
area designated as "forestry/agroforestry," visit the TechReg
website at http://techreg.usda.gov
to see if you meet the eligibility requirements. Certified Foresters who
have taken the NRCS Conservation Planning Course, modules 1-5, are eligible
for certification as a TSP. This course is available online at http://www.nedc.nrcs.usda.gov/catalog/consplan.html.
