The Society of American Foresters grants recognition only to educational
programs leading to a two-year associate degree in forest technology or
the equivalent. The institutions named below have requested SAF recognition
and have certified that they offer programs that meet or exceed SAF minimum
standards relating to objectives, curriculum, faculty, students, administration,
parent-institution support, and physical resources and facilities. SAF-recognized
curricula are periodically reviewed and are required to submit documentation
showing compliance with mimimum standards. SAF recognition is not the equivalent
of accreditation of professional forestry programs.
The first year shown in each entry indicates the year initial recognition
status was granted; the second year indicates the year the last site review
was completed; and the third year indicates the year current recognition
expires. Not all curricula at these institutions are SAF-recognized.
Only those curricula listed below lead to a SAF-approved forest technology
degree.
