Integrated Tools for Rugged Field Data Collection in Forestry Applications

Learn the latest technologies and techniques for rugged field data collection in forestry and water quality applications. Instructors from SAF's seminar cosponsors, Juniper Systems and Electronic Data Solutions, Inc., will focus on:

  • Products - Allegro CE field computer with expansion pods; DataPlus CE application generator for Windows CE-based field computers; ArcPad and TerraSync mobile GIS software, and laser rangefinders, including a session on evaluating Windows CE compatible hardware and software and a hands-on demonstration of GIS/GPS data collection using Trimble's TerraSync mobile GIS.
  • In-office data processing - Post-processing and mapping with Pathfinder Office; and
  • Transfer of Data Collected in field - Data processing and integration using DataSite software and DataPlus CE with integrated GIS.
  • Hands-on applications will give participants an opportunity to use the equipment and software to determine whether it will fit their information processing needs. Hear from a panel of public agency, industry, and consultant representatives who have experience with on-the-ground applications and earn 10 CFEs.
