2006-2007 Student Award Winners

The Outstanding Student Chapter Award recognizes outstanding SAF student chapters in the nation. The Award is based on numerous criteria, including: service to members, service to the Society, service to the forestry school, service to the community, involvement with other natural resource organizations, outside recognition, chapter management, and the supporting letter from the Chair/Dean of the forestry school and the presentation of the entry. There were seven entries this year.

First Place The Green River Community College Student Chapter
Second Place: The Mississippi State University Student Chapter
Third Place: The Pennsylvania State University Student Chapter

The Student Chapter Website Award honors the SAF Student Chapter with the best website design, content, and web management. There were three entries this year.

First Place: The Mississippi State University Student Chapter
Second Place: The SUNY/ESF Student Chapter
Third Place: The University of Florida Student Chapter

One of our judges said of the Outstanding Student Chapter Award applicants:  “I want to commend all SAF Student Chapters for their hard work and dedication to SAF. They all deserve recognition and praise for their efforts!”

One of the judges said of the Student Chapter Best Website Award:  “Close competition!  All three sites were outstanding, user friendly, and creative.”

Scoring for both of this year’s competitions was extremely close!  Congratulations to all of these Student Chapters for a job well done!
