SAF 2006 National Convention - Alumnai Activities

SAF Alumni Receptions

Thursday, October 26th
6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

The Convention is a tremendous opportunity for networking and becoming reacquainted with other fellow alumni, sharing old and treasured memories; and the chance to interact with the current forestry students. We will continue the popular tradition of Alumni Receptions for the 2006 convention in Pittsburgh, PA.

All group and private receptions will take place at the Omni William Penn Hotel, which is located 3 blocks from the Pittsburgh Convention Center. For the group event, each school will have a designated space where the alumni can congregate. Food will be served from several large buffets and each school will be charged on a per person basis. The private receptions will be held in separate rooms that are in close proximity to the group event.

How to Schedule a Reception

The two options for this year are:

One large group reception on Thursday, October 26th from 6:00 – 9:00 pm
Ten private evening receptions on Thursday, October 26th from 6:00 – 9:00 pm

As before, each school will become clients of the hotel, sign separate paperwork and set up separate accounts accordingly. Each school is required to estimate the number of attendees and give the hotel that guarantee. You will be charged based on that guarantee.

The price includes tax and service charge. Schools that prefer a private room would be charged the same per person price, but in addition they would be charged $150 for the fees associated with having a private room and a dedicated server.

Several bars and cashiers will be set up with a full bar. Cashiers will process the money and give the attendee a drink ticket. The attendee will present the ticket to the bartender. If a school chooses to have hosted bar, one where they pay for the beverages, the hotel will “sell” you tickets and you can distribute them accordingly. In either the cash or hosted bar situation the bartenders may ask for identification as proof of age.

Each Reception will be listed in the onsite SAF Convention Program. If you decide to host as alumni event separate from this Reception, we will include the information in the program as long as the information is provided before September 1st, 2006.

School Pennant -

As in the past we will also be making use of school pennants to help identify your space in the group reception and to decorate your space in the private rooms. If you did not send your pennant for the 2005 Alumni Reception you are welcome to contribute one to this event. Please direct them to Laura Rossi at the SAF National Office. These pennants will be delivered to the hotel and then saved for future use.

June 30th Information turned over to the William Omni Penn Hotel

Aug-Oct Hotel will interact with each school regarding guarantees and payment
