Foresters’ and Science Funds – Raffle and Silent Auction

SAF will be hosting a Raffle and Silent Auction for both the Foresters’ Fund and the Science Fund. We are encouraging donations and your participation to support these excellent programs.

Foresters’ Fund

The Foresters’ Fund provides grants to SAF units for projects that promote education and enhance public understanding of the forestry profession. This year the Fund is providing $40,000 in grants across the country.

Please Make a Donation

The silent auction and raffle is the biggest fund raising activity for the Foresters’ Fund. Items needed include books, clothing, forestry tools (old or new), equipment, local products (non forestry), paintings, or in other words ANYTHING. All donated items should provide the following:

  • Individual’s name/SAF unit name
  • Address
  • Item description (including approximate value) of the donated item(s).
  • Items will be accepted during registration hours or items can be shipped directly to:

    Donors will receive an acknowledgment letter from SAF that can be used for tax purposes.

    Science Fund

    The Science Fund provides grants and loans to conduct and support forestry research, continuing education activities and transfer of knowledge, and promote collaboration and relationships with other SAF entities and external groups.

    Be Part of the Photo Contest

    This is the first national fundraising event for the Science Fund and to kick it off – a photo contest with the theme, “Science in Action”.

    Photos will be judged in four categories:

    1) Teaching Science to Children
    Examples: field events, science fairs, Arbor Day

    2) Research
    Examples: field study sites, experimental subjects, sampling procedures

    3) Scientific Application to Management
    Examples: CFE workshops, field tours, demonstration areas

    4) Science and Technology
    Examples: specialized equipment, GIS and spatial analysis, microscopy

    Entry Requirements:
  • No larger than 11 inches by 14 inches for black and white or color photo
  • From digital or film source
  • Photo must be mounted on a hard backing and may be matted
  • Photo with glass, frames, or plastic will not be accepted
  • Entry fee is $2.00 per photo with a limit of five photos per person. Judging is by popular vote of convention attendees at $1 per vote. The top five photos with the most votes in each category will be awarded prizes.

    Photos not picked-up after contest will become the property of SAF.
