Team Terresense — Forest Carbon Project & Aerial Sensor Technology Workshop
Wednesday, September 30 – 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

This workshop is designed to be an open forum to discuss the steps necessary for a forest carbon project utilizing the Terresense Inc aerial sensor technology. The aerial sensor methodology was approved in March 2009 by the Chicago Climate Exchange Forestry Committee. The workshop is focused on forest landowners, professional forest managers, verifiers, aggregators, investors, and any other groups involved with a forest projects. The workshop objective is to provide the "nuts & bolts" of a forest carbon project, introduce the aerial methodology and to clarify the process to encourage forest landowner involvement. Presentations from subject matter experts will cover such topics as: project management, forest certification, trading schemes, aerial survey, 3rd party verification, off-set trading, and national cap & trade. As part of the workshop, the Terresense Inc aerial survey aircraft will be on display with a sensor technology presentation. A panel discussion and Q&A segment will wrap up the workshop. Ethics Workshop

The Ethics Workshop will introduce participants to the SAF Code of Ethics and the process the Ethics Committee uses when handling an ethics case. A brief examination of historic Journal of Forestry articles and SAF’s constitution and by-laws will highlight themes echoed in the current Code, and one or more case studies will be presented for discussion. All SAF members are encouraged to attend, especially students and licensed/certified foresters who require continuing education in ethics. The workshop is designed to fulfill CFE requirements (2 hours).

Second Annual Symposium on American Forest Policy
Saturday, October 3 – 8:45 am - 4:30 pm
Sponsored by the SAF National Committee on Forest Policy
The SAF National Committee on Forest Policy will host the second "Symposium on American Forest Policy," a one-day session focused on discussing the most critical forest policy issues in the United States. The purpose of this symposium is to enhance policy discussions and critical issues related to forestry among natural resource researchers and practitioners across a variety of forest landownerships.
