SAF Perspective on Forest Recovery and Reforestation after
Catastrophic Events
"We've got to get past the political posturing
and actively pursue the hard work of recovering our forests," says
Michael Goergen, Executive Vice President of SAF. "Areas that have
been hit hard by disasters take years and even decades to recover on their
own. We can do better than that."
SAF has endorsed legislation, the House bill, the Forest
Emergency Recovery and Research Act (HR 4200) and the Senate bill, the
Forests for Future Generations Act (S 2079), as necessary steps to enabling
forest managers to quickly recover and reforest after catastrophic events.
