Since 1900, the Society of American Foresters has provided access to information and networking opportunities to prepare members for the challenges and the changes that face natural resource professionals.

SAF Core Values are:

and needs,

Mission Statement

The Society of American Foresters (SAF) is the national scientific and educational organization representing the forestry
profession in the United States. Founded in 1900 by Gifford Pinchot, it is the largest professional society for foresters in the
world. The mission of the Society of American Foresters is to advance the science, education, technology, and practice of
forestry; to enhance the competency of its members; to establish professional excellence; and, to use the knowledge, skills,
and conservation ethic of the profession to ensure the continued health and use of forest ecosystems and the present and
future availability of forest resources to benefit society. SAF is a nonprofit organization meeting the requirements of 501(c)3.

SAF members include natural resource professionals in public and private settings, researchers, CEOs, administrators, educators, and students.

Stateline Chapter Meeting — 02/08/2012

The Stateline Chapter will hold its February, 2012 meeting on Thursday, February 16 at David Beard's Restaurant in Idabel, OK. The meeting will begin at 6:00 pm.

SE-SAF Chapter Meeting — 02/02/2012

The SE-SAF Chapter first quarter meeting and seminar is scheduled for February 13th. The Arkansas Forestry Commission is sponsoring a chili supper beginning at 6:30, and the meeting will begin at 7pm. Please contact Joe Friend (Joe.Friend@Arkansas.gov) by February 8th if you will be attending the supper. The meeting is being held at the AFC office in Monticello.

Joe Friend is Recognized as an SAF Fellow — 01/11/2012

At the 2011 Ouachita SAF meeting, Joe Friend of the Arkansas Forestry Commission was recognized for his being elected as a Fellow in the Society of American Foresters in 2011.

Ouachita SAF Forestry Enhancement Award — 10/12/2010

Do you know of an SAF Chapter, civic group, school, youth organization, etc. that is interested in developing a forestry education project? If so, please let them know abut the Ouachita SAF Forestry Enhancement Award. This award provides up to $500 for selected projects over a two-year period.

The OSAF Executive Committee established this award in an effort to promote forestry education in the Oklahoma-Arkansas region, and encourages applications from interested indviduals and groups.
